Half moon recycled paper bricks - European workshop.
Material experimentation, transforming discarded paper.

As part of a European workshop, I had the opportunity to explore material experimentation by creating bricks from discarded paper collected around the school. Through a series of tests, we searched for the right composition and balance of materials to produce a solid, durable brick that could be used as cladding, giving new life to what was once considered waste.

We began by exploring the possibilities of 3D printing, designing and producing our own mold. Based on a simple mold-and-pusher system, it allowed us to shape the bricks, carefully release them from the mold, and leave them to dry before testing their properties.

Before moving to our earth-based mixture. Once the paper was shredded, and set aside to dry. Using our mold, we tried to make a few paper-based bricks, flour and hot water where used as a binder.
